The first picture was taken a year ago at Zaf’s open house. I was 57kg (errk!!)
The last picture is me one year later. Proud 47kg. 10kg less. Hehehe.

The day I write this entry, I weight 46kg. Having sort of :P tired of people asking me how did I lose weight, here are the things I did. No secrets, no pills, no hunger. All revealed here.

I started gaining weight after wonderful relationship with * the Boyfriend *. Who wouldn’t be happy to be driven around the city eating delicious food :P

Few months later, after realizing I couldn’t fit into my work shirts and most of my jeans and pants, I know I only had two choices. First, buy new clothing. Second, lose weight. I chose the latter because it doesn’t involve money. I mean, the money could go somewhere else. Like books, computer parts or kitten food. Buying new clothes in bigger sizes also means that I’m accepting the fact that I GAINED WEIGHT. Tak nak.

I started dieting in June, and adding one more reason to lose weight, for lovely Miss Eliza’s engagement on Merdeka Day where she needed me to be one of her dayang. I wanted to look good. On the day of engagement, I was 7kg lighter. Not bad for 2 and half months.

I continued with the Diet Whatever up until fasting month and stop for a while (I’ll explain later) and continue again after Eid.

I call it Diet Whatever. You eat fruits, then you eat whatever.

Rule No 1. Eat fruits before meal.
This was successfully done by a dear friend, Mysara. Frankly I have no idea how overweight she was. I mean, even the skinniest girl can actually confessed that herself is fat. It’s a subjective matter for girls I suppose? *wink*

Mysara said if we eat fruits before meal, our intestines will be covered up with a protective layer which will refrain fats from being absorbed into the intestines. I’m no doctor nor scientist. But I believe it brings no harm. Furthermore, it’s sunnah Nabi (to eat fruits before meal).

I don’t see if fruits make me half full before meal, because I ate the exact amount of whatever (rice especially) afterwards. Hiks.

Types of fruits? Doesn’t matter, I don’t know about durian, it’s not in season when I started this Diet Whatever though. I chose cut fruits which can be bought easily for RM1 at fruit stall here at the office. Actually I was not really a fruit person. I hated fruits because if I wanted to eat them, I have to peel or cut them off. I am that lazy. So during weekend at home, I stick with grapes or bananas which can be easily popped into my mouth without dirtying my hands. I don’t have to cut the skin, remove cores, cut into pieces like pineapples or watermelons. Aargh.

After fruits, I eat anything I want. No restrictions, tak payah tension takleh makan itu, takleh makan ini. Nasi beriyani, pizza, pasta, lamb chop, fried foods, I didn’t really care. Sinful meal? What’s that?

Rule No 2. Eat frequently
This is the easiest but the trickiest part. Some people removed snacks from their office drawer when they start dieting, betul tak Lenny? Haha. In my case, I stuffed them until I couldn’t shut the drawer properly.

To lose weight, you need to eat, eat and eat. The logic behind this can be found everywhere in online guides of dieting.

See, I was so desperate to lose weight I even did research on internet. Sampai it dawns to me that I looked so puffed up, I pity * the Boyfriend * having me to walk, sit and go out together with sebiji belon :(
Fact 1

Fact 2

Fact 3

Fact 4

I believe you’ve heard this so many times - ‘Never Skip Meals’. Most of us think the reason is that, if we skip meal, we tend to eat more on our next meal. It is actually more than that. This is basically how hour body works:After every meal, you own ‘food processor’ will start processing the food. It is important to know that this process will involve energy burning. Energy burning - that’s what you really need to lose weight. So you got to keep eating and eating, so that the energy will go on burning and burning.

On the other hand, if you skimmed on your food, especially when you eat just once or twice a day, your body will naturally conserved the food you just ate, because it knows that it’s gonna be hooouuurs till your next meal. Eventually, your metabolism will slow down. So once you eat, the ‘food processor’ will work VERY SLOW to release energy, and restore most of it as FAT. This is to make sure that you would not get sick/hungry until your next meal. You can’t cheat your body, that’s just how God wants it to work.

If you go on skipping meals, you would be happy when you look at the weighing scale and you’re 2kg lighter. Those are water and muscles, not fat. And 2-3kg is the max you can go. You will then continue skipping meals, but the scale won’t go any lower. Tired of being hungry and couldn’t escape all the cravings, you go back with the conventional 3 meals a day. And the scale go even higher. Yo-yo diet.

That explained why most people gained weight during fasting month. In my humble opinion, I don’t find Ramadhan is a good month to lose weight. In fact I gained back 2kg during Ramadhan although I started most of my berbuka with fruits. I know I gained more because I didn’t go on my non-stop eating affair. I would personally think during Ramadhan, please scrap off the thoughts of dieting. Just eat healthily for yourself and enough energy for ibadah. Cheyyy.

However, you must know how to stay in the equilibrium of hungry and really stuffed (really stuffed as in the feeling after buffet feast ok!). This when the snacks comes into the picture. In between meals, eat small portion of snacks, this could also mean a piece of cake every half and hour. My snacks are everything including kerepek, savouries, crackers, bread, kuih raya and the list goes on and on. Anything that will not let you feel hungry. Take it as if you hit the hungry point, you’re doomed! Heh.

Tapi jangan snacking sampai you’re stuffed. Eat slow, and stop before you’re stuffed.

Keep your ‘engine’ going.
So eat and be merry. Senangkan?

Exercise?
I don’t do exercise. I just don’t get it why I should get tired to keep myself healthy. Huwa huwaaaa lazy bum. But seriously, please do it. At least for your cardio.
Protein diet?
It doesn’t work well for me. Believe me I’ve tried. Protein diet works well if you exercise. But since I don’t, it doesn’t work for me. Besides, I’m not good in restricting food of some categories. Like nasi panas + rendang daging + kicap. Or nasik lemak + sambal sotong + paru. Or roti beckham Sri Murni. Uuuuuuuu NYUMMM NYUMMM sangat!!

Basically I don’t put any restrictions on what I eat. And the fact that *the Boyfriend* and I love eating, trying new food place and I eat almost anything, make it hard for me to forbid myself from coconut milk or mayonnaise laden food. Hahah. From my experience, cutting off certain food from your diet will only make it look much more attractive and desirable. Betul tak?

So there. Diet Whatever. The easiest and hunger-free dieting method.

Two of my friends had been on Diet Whatever. My colleague lose 5kg since Eid. And Lenny, I bet she’s still confused where those 4kg went when all she did all the time is snacking. Hehee.. Haven’t I told you babe?

HAIL TO THE POWER OF FRUITS!

This method works for me. If you want to try, I wish it works for you too. All the best ;)
