June 2007

We’ve heard so much about children moving out from their parents to start an independent life living on their own or with friends. The thought crossed my mind few times but since I’m the only one living with my parents (brother is married and another brother and two sisters are in Uni) I feel kinda obliged to stay. Furthermore I like the location of my house, it’s near to almost everywhere, not in noisy zone and far from 3rd-class-minded community. If I ever moved out, I would look for a house at the same location too, so what’s the use?

However in my case, things are going the opposite way. It’s my parents who decided to move out, hehe. My brother’s latest result is not up to the par (define where is the par when ‘good’ means listed under Dean’s List, so figure where ‘best’ is) so my father decided to move there to monitor his study. I think they are going to like it there, it’s nearer to the east coast beaches so you can imagine two pensioners husband and wife who shares great enthusiasm in fishing and boating going to spend their time. Owh by the way, ‘there’ is in Kuantan.

I’m going to get the house for myself, albeit until my brother graduated. Sort of happy because I’ll be in charge on the house soon, not that this is the first time, I’ve stayed alone when they were away on week long trips numerous times before, but this time it’s so different y’all. Hahaha. Wouldn’t it be nice? I don’t have to fork out to start an independent life. A house already complete with furnitures, utilities and everything, with reasonable driving distance to office and outings.

But, (there’s always ‘but’ in good news isn’t it) the downside of it, there will be no more late night outs. Late as in 1am, 12 midnight is still early :P Moreover, I have to give extra commitments to the pets, 3 cats and a pond full of koi-s. My parents took great care of them and I’m still wondering whether I’ll be up to their standards. And I going to have more bills to pay besides my own monthly bills. I only paid for Streamyx. Electricity + water + astro + gas + quit rent are always taken care by them. So much for a grown-up anak sulung la konon. Hiks.

The house is just a humble abode but for someone who’s going to live alone there, it’s big. Tak dapat la gue nak berangan duduk studio apartment. I don’t know why but I’m the type who loves small and cute size home. Maybe sebab senang nak mengemas. Cakap pasal mengemas, living alone means I got to live in my own mess and my peculiar and fussy way of cleaning. Yeay to that!

I’m planning to turn the room downstairs into a studio where I’ll be doing the handmade cards, scrapbooking, beading, sewing, mosaic and tiling and all other so-called creative stuff *cringed*. Hehe.

On a different note, here’s the Pop Culture meme tagged by Lenny.

Ok, the rules:

1. Go to Pop Culture Madness site.
2. Pick the year you turn 18 years old.
3. Get yourself nostalgic over the songs that year.
4. Write something about how those songs affected you.
5. Pass it on to five more friends.
Here are the songs I *think* I can relate.

1. Champagne Supernova - Oasis

That was the year Oasis meletup here in Malaysia. I was in YPM Bangi. There was a guy in our college who looks like Liam Gallagher but he had terrible body odour. Too bad, kalau wangi mesti semorang suka. Champagne Supernova is my favorite from the What’s The Story Morning Glory Album.

2. No Diggity - BLACKstreet

Zaman clubbing. It’s not something I’m proud of but I think for most people, there’s going to be the moment you just grew out of it. I still kept my clubbing wardrobe, not because of been-there-done-that proof, but just to remind myself how thin I was before to fit such skimpy clothes. Mengapakah takde lagu Jump Around (House Of Pain) dalam list ni, itu lagi nostalgic.

3. Head Over Feet - Alanis Morissette

I was (still am) a big fan of Alanis Morissette. This was the first song of Alanis that caught my ears. The next thing I know, I was already singing every single line of songs inside Jagged Little Pill. I bought every magazines which featured her. Who else went to her concert in May 2005? I cried during the concert. Too happy to be in the same hall, only few meters apart. Memalukan but that’s the truth.

4. Don’t Speak - No Doubt

Another favorite. Tragic Kingdom was an almost perfect album (after Live - Throwing Copper). The time this song was femes-emes, I was in YPM Trolak and shuttling KL-Tg Malim every single weekend. The album accompanied me for the 2 hours bus lompat trip.

5. Forever - Mariah Carey

I worked part-time at The Bodyshop Lot 10 during college semester break. This song was played repeatedly at the shop sampai aku terminat kat Mariyah Keri ni. I think I started to like Sheila Majid about this time too. One of the kakak who worked there played rounds of her CDs during her shift.

6. The Distance - Cake

It’s something about this song I wish not to disclose, thank you :)

I’m tagging.. no one. Anyone can continue.

I got a problem and I
don’t know what to do about it
even If I didn’t I don’t know
If I would quit but I doubt it, I’m
takin’ by the thought of it
And I know this much is true
baby you have become my addiction
-Because of You (Ne-Yo)

I’m addicted to 3 things right now.

1. Big Apple Doughnuts..

That is my third dozen within a week! Should I worry now?

2. Actorlympics.

They are back! Yeeehawww! And I’m going there tonight. How can I not be happier. This addiction is called ‘actorlympicyties’. It has no cure, but I’m not complaining. There severity of this disease can be measured on how terrible headache you have after a session of Actorlympics. And how badly your jaw hurts. Tsk tsk..

3. E!

I tell you, this channel 76 on Astro is totally full of crap! After each programme, you could actually ask yourself.. “So??”. But there’s something that will keep your ass stick to the couch watching more and more. Tsk tsk tskk..

Till then, see you in a week. I’m off to Hong Kong & China for another misi merompak.

Since 2006, I started the new year with ONLY ONE resolution. I found it easier because I can focus to one objective and stick to it. Unlike 5-8 resolutions the years before. Stick to ONE resolution each year, but carry it to the following year. With that, since you already accustomed to that one particular resolution for a year, come new year with new resolution, you can carry both without any difficulties (read: laziness).

Year 2006, my resolution was to lose weight. It went well, alhamdulillah, praise to God.

Year 2007, maintain my weight (carry forward from last year) and to separate my garbage to 4 categories i.e. paper, plastic, glass, decomposable(new year resolution). During my new year trip to Phuket with *the boyfriend*, Mysara, Phyruzze & Bigg, I noticed they most people in Phuket separated all their rubbish as what I listed just now. I should say Phuket is quite ‘kampung’ compared to us, but their awareness towards the environment is far ‘modernized’. Shame on us..

I pledged to myself that I would do the same once I got home and that was what I did (and still doing it). It’s already June and I should say this deed is really easy once it became a habit. Paper, plastic & glass are sent to recycle center, decompose garbage to the garbage truck.

So, what have you done to the environment lately?
