September 2007

It’s been awhile since I used my mom’s sewing machine. When I was still young, I used to sew many simple things, batu seremban, totes and clothes for my dolls. My dolls all had maxi dress (long dress with hem higher than waistline, kinda fashion la zaman dulu-dulu). And their dresses matched my dress :) Kecik-kecik lagi dah groupie hahahh :P

Few weeks back, before his trip to Tokyo, Bigg asked me whether I could sew him a camera beanbag. Since I’ve been planning to make myself one too, I immediately said yes. For those who are not sure what is camera beanbag, it’s like a beanbag but much smaller, very ideal especially for outdoor photography. It’s an alternative to tripod but beanbag is much versatile because you can put it on uneven surface. Like these:

For those who would like to try it, here’s how. I would recommend you to use fabric that is not stretchy (is there such word?) and not slippery. For mine, I used flannel cloth. Actually this piece is as old as me. And never been used. My mom said in the early days when people come to visit the newborn, they usually bring few yards of cloths as gifts. The cloths can be used as blanket, swaddle blanket , etc. My mom got this piece when she got me. That explained the retro print. Very the Lotta Janesdotter okay. No wonder she becomes my hero :P

Here are the things you should have: 2 piece of 12 x 12 inch, dry grains (beans, rice, pods etc) and that’s all.

Easy peasy steps:

1. Turn the cloth wrong side out. Sew first line. Leave an opening for few inches.

2. Turn right side out. Sew the second line (inner side of the squares). Leave the opening as it was.

3. Fill the bag with grains, about half full. I used rice and to prevent bubuk (I don’t know what do you call this pest in English) I put a dried chilli.

4. Sew to close (you have to sew 2 lines).

Done!

And for many years to come. Hope you like what I just bought for US :)

No worries, i’m still okay with your ‘plan’, it’s just that I need to buy this because of age factor! (The older you get, the shorter your loan tenure, the higher you have to pay monthly :p).

p/s: Comment purposely disabled to avoid the much dreaded question “bila nak kawin” from the nosy makcik joyahs and mat kaypohs. Financially I can get married this weekend if we want to. I don’t get it why people getting married give those penyibuk any element of pleasure. It’s just that we have not had the reason to get married. Paham dak? We’re not longing for kids, we’re not eager to live together (since we meet each other everyday anyway, if not out, he just lepak at my place, with my parents around of course). And I don’t need him to prove his love and loyalty to me because I trust him dearly. Don’t you just get boring with such stories? And the husband still menggatal and ogles at other women after wedding. And for the man who married their woman just because he wanted to shut her up, the wife still nags (and getting fatter by the days). Kesiannnn..

*Updated!!* Crossed out 2 items in one day. Actually added Madam Kwan’s Chicken Chop, it was supposed in the list tapi lupa nak add! :)

I have this habit of listing of what I want to eat before Ramadhan comes and I try to cross out as much as my time permits (s0metimes depend on geographical and gastronomical factor as well). Normally the list was draft 2 months before fasting. This very unappropriate habit of mine been practiced since 5 years back if I’m not mistaken and this year, this is my list.
